Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour has hinted the club intend to sign players before the close of the transfer window.

The Premier League champions have yet to bring any fresh faces to Etihad Stadium, despite speculation linking them with several players including Liverpool defender Daniel Agger and Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.

Manager Roberto Mancini has been vocal in his frustrations at the lack of transfer activity but Mansour has now responded, claiming the City boss is completely satisfied with the current squad while hinting there could be additions.

What is important is to preserve the achievement of winning the title and maintaining the good standards of last season, he said.

We will support the team with a player or players.

City will win Champions League – Pellegrini

Manuel Pellegrini insists his club are destined to win the Champions League despite their struggles in Europe under him.

City have been eliminated in the last 16 the past two seasons, while they were sent packing in the group stages in 2011-12 and 2012-13.

Pellegrini, who guided Villarreal to the semi-finals and Malaga to the last eight, said he was confident City would eventually become European powerhouses.

We have played Barcelona in the last two years and if we had played Barcelona at Villarreal or Malaga then maybe we wouldn t have gone so far, he said.

This is a very young team compared with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Juventus. We are younger than the teams who normally win the Champions League over the last 10 years.

Balotelli to move on from Nice

Mino Raiola, the agent of Mario Balotelli, is determined to find the former Italy international a new club, Gazzetta dello Sport have reported.

The Italian striker moved from to Liverpool in 2014 for £16 million as the Reds desperately tried to compensate for the loss of Luis Suarez, but his time there was riddled with discipline issues and a semi-successful loan-move back to the Rossoneri. Liverpool to hand Fabinho new contract

Liverpool are hoping to discuss a new contract with Fabinho, according to .

The Brazilian arrived to Anfield from AS Monaco in the summer of 2018 and even though it took some time for him to adapt to the tactical demands of manager Jurgen Klopp, he quickly grew into a very important player for a team that won the Champions League that season and the Premier League in the one that followed.

Primarily a defensive midfielder, Fabinho proved his versatility this term by dropping into the centre-back role due to the injuries that saw the season practically finished for Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. Even though his duties are mostly oriented to protecting his own goal rather than threatening the opposition one, he has scored a few stunners for Liverpool, most notably the kon…
