Man Utd still undecided on Rashford surgery, Solskjaer insists

Manchester United have not yet decided if Marcus Rashford requires surgery despite reports to the contrary.

Recent media speculation suggested United and Rashford had come to the decision that the England international needed an operation to fix a long-standing shoulder issue.

Rashford is said to have been struggling with the problem since at least November, while it has also been claimed he has not been truly injury free in two years.

Were Rashford to have surgery, it is thought he would be out at least until October, forcing him to miss a significant amount of football at the start of 2021-22.

But Solskjaer is adamant a decision is yet to be made.

No, we re looking at the best options, Solskjaer said after United s 2-1 friendly win over Derby C…

Sean Dyche rallies Everton again after latest points deduction

Sean Dyche has called on Everton to show the same positive reaction to their second points deduction of the season as the first.

Having seen November’s 10-point penalty for breaching spending rules reduced to six on appeal, the Toffees were penalised a further two points this week, dropping them back to within two points of the Premier League relegation zone.

Everton’s best spell of the season came shortly after the initial sanction, with the Toffees’ four-match winning run including a 2-0 success against Monday’s opponents Chelsea.

Dembele included in Barca squad for Benfica clash

Ousmane Dembele looks set to be in Barcelona s match squad for just the second time this season when Benfica visit Camp Nou on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old French winger s injury struggles throughout his Barca career have been well publicised, with the former Borussia Dortmund talent yet to make more than 20 LaLiga starts in a single season.

He appeared to be getting back on track last season, with 19 league starts and 44 overall appearances across all competitions, but Dembele had to undergo knee surgery at the end of June that kept him out of action for four months.

Then, after returning to the pitch with a 25-minute cameo in the 1-0 win at Dynamo Kiev on November 2, Dembele was ruled out again with a hamstring injury.

While it remains to be seen if he can…

Rangnick? I´d need a nap to talk about Man Utd´s many rumoured managers – City boss Guardiola

Pep Guardiola said he would need a nap to talk about Manchester United s many rumoured managers amid mounting speculation regarding potential new Red Devils boss Ralf Rangnick.

Rangnick is reportedly set to take over United on an interim basis following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with a potentially longer stay at Old Trafford in a role behind the scenes.

Former RB Leipzig head coach Rangnick – who also held various roles at the Bundesliga outfit across eight seasons – is currently head of sports and development at Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow.

Talk of Rangnick s six-month appointment has dominated headlines as United reportedly eye long-term targets Mauricio Pochettino of Paris Saint-Germain and Ajax s Erik ten Hag, while Sporting CP boss Ruben Amo…

Pirlo refutes ´laughing at Manchester United´ remark

Former Juventus star Andrea Pirlo has denied mocking Manchester United over their decision to allow Paul Pogba to leave the club in 2012.

Pogba moved back to Old Trafford for a reported world-record fee of close to £93million this month after winning Serie A four times in a row, as well as two Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa titles in Turin.

Pirlo, in quotes attributed to The Daily Mail and widely reported in England, claimed that Juve were still laughing at United for letting the France international leave as a 19-year-old for a nominal fee.

But the New York City midfielder has issued a short Instagram message to deny giving any such interview.

Giovinco returns to Juventus

Juventus have re-signed Sebastian Giovinco from Parma, the Serie A champions announced on Thursday.

Parma revealed the completion of the deal on Tuesday, but retracted their announcement just hours later.

Giovinco, who was co-owned by both clubs, has signed a three-year contract which will keep him at Juve until 2015.

Juventus agreed to pay 11 million euros for the remaining 50 percent ownership of the 25-year-old.

He follows in the footsteps of Emanuele Giaccherini, who signed a permanent deal with Juve earlier in the week for 4.25 million euros.

Giovinco, who has made two substitute appearances for Italy at Euro 2012, broke into Juve s first team in 2007 but was quickly loaned out to Empoli to get more games under his belt.

Facundo Pellestri nets late equaliser as Man Utd earn draw with Athletic Bilbao

Facundo Pellestri ensured Manchester United avoided defeat in their final pre-season friendly as Harry Maguire atoned for his first-half error to help secure a 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao.

Maguire, whose mistake had allowed Nico Williams to open the scoring before the break, set up the Uruguay international to level in stoppage time in front of a sell-out crowd at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Maguire, who was replaced as United captain by Bruno Fernandes during a summer of speculation over his future, was included as one of 11 changes to the side which beat Lens 3-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday, but there was no place for injured £72million signing Rasmus Hojlund a day after he had been presented to the club’s fans.
